Saving your work: device, account and downloads
Know where each kind of work is kept and how to protect it before switching devices or closing a page.
OpenBuilder has several saving methods. Saved on this device means this browser holds the copy. Saved to your account or Synced means the service has confirmed an account copy you can access from another device.
Lab answers
Your Lab answers are kept on the device while cloud saving is attempted. Changes normally sync after a short pause and can retry when the connection returns.
- Read the current save message before leaving.
- If cloud saving fails, the device copy may still exist, but another device will not have those edits yet.
- If work changed on another device, review the conflict instead of assuming either copy is newer.
- If device storage fails, keep the page open and export the work where possible before retrying.
Completing a step and saving the whole Lab's final output are different parts of the workflow.
Course drafts and cross-device copies
Many course editors keep a local draft. Where Cross-device copy appears:
- Choose Check cloud copy.
- Review the saved version and its contents.
- Choose Use cloud copy only if you want to load that version into the editor.
- To keep your current edits online, choose Save cloud copy or Replace reviewed cloud copy with my edits.
- Wait for Synced before relying on another device.
This is deliberate syncing, not automatic syncing of every course. Embedded micro-course progress and notes remain browser-based; save the note explicitly.
Course outputs and venture evidence
Save brief, Save note or Save dossier can create a course output in Your evidence. That library is saved on the device and is not itself cloud-synced. Download a backup.
To keep a selected excerpt in your account, use Bring in earlier work → Carry evidence forward in the founder portal. Review the source, consent to uploading a device excerpt and choose Save selected evidence. See venture evidence.

Check the tool's own message rather than assuming all tools behave alike. My Workspace offers selected resumption shortcuts; it is not a complete backup of every tool.
Guest work, exports and privacy
Guest work does not automatically become account work. If an import is offered after sign-in, review it and confirm it belongs to you.
Downloading does not publish your work. Public sharing uses a separate control. If saving fails, keep the current tab open and follow save recovery.
Installation and offline limits
Adding OpenBuilder to your home screen does not make the site or all account work available offline. Loading pages, reading account records, cloud saving, messages and AI need a connection. Device drafts in a supported editor and files you deliberately download are separate from online saving. Keep the current tab open during a connection problem, download important work when possible and wait for a saved confirmation after reconnecting.
